This project was a collaboration between boutique interior design firm, McCarthy Nordburg and Devenney Group. The main goal of Hacienda was to create a healing environment for the patients. They desired an environment that speaks to the community it has served for 15 years. Practically, the 21,000 square foot hospital had stringent licensing criteria to adhere too. They tasked the design team to design a space that evoked a sense of peace and whimsy. This healing hospital caters to youths diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. The President had formed a task force to establish the criteria for different work environments for participants to transition from a protected environment to a real work environment. The alternate patient areas including the lobby, corridors, patient rooms and wings, color the healthcare landscape. Not immune to the industry’s belt-tightening, there’s a unique and fun playful theme.
McCarthy Nordburg’s reputation is based on executing good, workable design through meticulous attention to detail, without exceeding budgetary guidelines. By designing solely for the client’s needs, the result expresses the personality, character, and parameters of the organization.
